We are sending this message regarding the current situation in the north and east of Syria.
Today, we are witnessing the collapse of the authoritarian Ba’ath regime in Syria. This marks a historic opportunity for Syria to establish a democratic system that ensures the rights of all its peoples.
This transition brings renewed hope to Syria and the entire region. To achieve success at this stage, national reconciliation must be reached, and we affirm that the model of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) is fundamental. We also stress that the DAANES, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) consider UN Security Council Resolution 2254 as a basis for resolving the Syrian crisis.
Today, the people of north and east Syria, who have defended humanity with the blood of their heroic sons and daughters and protected the world from the threat of Daesh/ISIS, are facing brutal attacks by factions linked to the Turkish state. These factions are seeking to exploit the current phase in Syria to secure their gains and impose their will, backed by the Turkish state. The occupation of all of Syria, especially the north and east, is a clear objective.
Over the past twelve days, the factions affiliated with the Turkish state have launched intensified and violent attacks on Manbij, supported by the Turkish government, using heavy weapons, fighter jets, and reconnaissance aircraft. These attacks are met with a resolute and courageous response from the SDF and the YPJ, as they defend their territory.
To halt these brutal violations and frustrate their objectives, the international community must act swiftly and effectively to confront these attacks and the escalation.
Our people in Afrin and other areas of Shahba have been subjected to genocide and grave human rights violations at the hands of Turkish-affiliated factions. These crimes include displacement, murder, and the deliberate humiliation of human dignity, as well as the abduction of many civilians, women, and fighters. Currently, more than 200,000 displaced civilians from Afrin and Shahba live in safe areas under the protection of the DAANES. Yet, thousands of families in Shahba still face all forms of violence and unethical violations.
The ongoing attacks on Manbij represent a new threat to the peoples of Syria. The Turkish state has been attempting for years to implement its «New Ottoman» plan using affiliated factions, exploiting the current chaos in Syria. These actions constitute crimes against humanity, especially given that north and east Syria is home to many of Syria’s indigenous peoples and is a strategic location for achieving their goals.
Since 2014, we have been engaged in a battle with the camps that host Daesh/ISIS families and the prisons that hold Daesh/ISIS’s most dangerous members. However, these recent attacks represent a revival of Daesh/ISIS activities, which threaten humanity.
This situation is not only a serious threat to the region, but also to the world. Daesh/ISIS continues to target our forces, as evidenced by the recent terrorist attack which resulted in the martyrdom of four self-defence forces members.
As the General Command of the YPJ, we call on you to uphold your legal and humanitarian responsibilities according to international law. Do not allow the factions linked to the Turkish state to carry out their genocidal plans targeting the peoples of Syria.

Estamos enviando este mensaje en relación con la situación actual en el norte y el este de Siria.
Hoy, estamos siendo testigxs del colapso del régimen autoritario Baaz en Siria. Esto marca una oportunidad histórica para que Siria establezca un sistema democrático que garantice los derechos de todos sus pueblos.
Esta transición trae una esperanza renovada a Siria y a toda la región. Para lograr el éxito en esta etapa, se debe alcanzar una reconciliación nacional, y afirmamos que el modelo de la Administración Autónoma Democrática del Norte y Este de Siria (AANES) es fundamental. También enfatizamos que la AANES, las Fuerzas Democráticas Sirias (FDS) y las Unidades de Protección de la Mujer (YPJ) consideran la Resolución 2254 del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU como base para resolver la crisis siria.
Hoy, el pueblo del norte y este de Siria, que ha defendido a la humanidad con la sangre de sus heroicxs hijxs y ha protegido al mundo de la amenaza de Daesh/ISIS, enfrenta brutales ataques por parte de facciones vinculadas al Estado turco. Estas facciones buscan aprovechar la fase actual en Siria para asegurar sus ganancias e imponer su voluntad, con el respaldo del Estado turco. La ocupación de toda Siria, especialmente del norte y el este, es un objetivo claro.
En los últimos doce días, las facciones afiliadas al Estado turco han lanzado ataques intensificados y violentos en Manbij, con el apoyo del gobierno turco, utilizando armas pesadas, aviones de combate y aeronaves de reconocimiento. Estos ataques son enfrentados con una respuesta decidida y valiente por parte de las FDS y las YPJ, que defienden su territorio.
Para detener estas brutales violaciones y frustrar sus objetivos, la comunidad internacional debe actuar de manera rápida y efectiva para enfrentar estos ataques y la escalada.
Nuestro pueblo en Afrin y otras áreas de Shahba ha sido sometido a genocidio y graves violaciones de derechos humanos a manos de facciones afiliadas a Turquía. Estos crímenes incluyen desplazamiento, asesinato y la humillación deliberada de la dignidad humana, así como el secuestro de muchos civiles, mujeres y combatientes. Actualmente, más de 200,000 civiles desplazados de Afrin y Shahba viven en áreas seguras bajo la protección de la AANES. Sin embargo, miles de familias en Shahba aún enfrentan todas las formas de violencia y violaciones antiéticas.
Los ataques continuos en Manbij representan una nueva amenaza para los pueblos de Siria. El Estado turco ha intentado durante años implementar su «Nuevo plan Otomano» utilizando facciones afiliadas y explotando el caos actual en Siria. Estas acciones constituyen crímenes contra la humanidad, especialmente considerando que el norte y este de Siria es el hogar de muchos de los pueblos originarios de Siria y un lugar estratégico para lograr sus objetivos.
Desde 2014, hemos estado comprometidxs en una batalla con los campamentos que albergan a las familias de Daesh/ISIS y las prisiones que retienen a los miembros más peligrosos de Daesh/ISIS. Sin embargo, estos recientes ataques representan un resurgimiento de las actividades de Daesh/ISIS, lo que supone una amenaza para la humanidad.
Esta situación no solo representa una grave amenaza para la región, sino también para el mundo. Daesh/ISIS continúa atacando a nuestras fuerzas, como lo demuestra el reciente ataque terrorista que resultó en el martirio de cuatro miembros de las fuerzas de autodefensa. Como Comando General de las YPJ, les hacemos un llamado para que cumplan con sus responsabilidades legales y humanitarias de acuerdo con el derecho internacional. No permitan que las facciones vinculadas al Estado turco lleven a cabo sus planes genocidas dirigidos contra los pueblos de Siria.
